OMV PETROM SA and Romgaz began laying 160 kilometers of pipeline for the 100 billion cubic meter Neptun Deep project on Monday. Once it starts producing gas in 2027, the project will double the gas production of Romania. It establishes the nation as a net exporter to Germany and Moldova while the EU weans itself off Russia energy.
SAIPEM SPA deployed two ships, Castoro 10 and Castorone, to install the pipeline from offshore wells to land. OMV PETROM SA senior executive Cristian Hubati said pipeline installation will take two months.
