Putin Offers Germany Gas via Intact Nord Stream Pipeline
President Vladimir Putin says Russia is ready to resume gas deliveries to Germany via Nord Stream 2. Berlin must now decide whether to accept the supplies.
President Vladimir Putin stated Russia is ready to resume gas supplies to Germany by pumping up to 28 billion cubic meters annually through the intact Nord Stream 2 line. The offer follows the 2022 destruction of the wider pipeline network which forced Berlin to secure alternative energy sources. The move pressures German leadership to decide between maintaining current sanctions or restoring direct energy ties to stabilize industrial costs.
### Putin Offers Immediate Energy Relief Speaking in St. Petersburg during the evening of June 4, Putin told journalists that the technical barriers to resuming gas flows are minimal. Putin stated that the system is ready for operation and only requires a political signal from German leadership to begin deliveries.
