Oil Prices Steady Amid Uncertain US-Iran Peace Talks
Brent crude held near 95 dollars as traders weighed conflicting reports regarding the status of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. While President Trump indicated that discussions are ongoing, reports of suspended talks and threats to the Strait of Hormuz continue to support a significant risk premium in global energy markets.
Brent Crude Oil steadied near $95.04 a barrel overnight as conflicting reports on ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran fueled market volatility. Prices held most of the 5% gains from the previous session despite a slight 0.18% dip in West Texas Intermediate to $91.99. The conflicting signals—Trump saying talks continue while Iran's Tasnim news agency reported suspended negotiations, and Trump separately telling CNBC he did not mind if talks were over—left investors uncertain about the likelihood of a Strait of Hormuz reopening.
