Oil prices fall as Trump reports ongoing Iran talks
Brent crude futures fell to 93.45 dollars a barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that diplomatic talks with Iran are continuing despite conflicting reports of a suspension. The market remains focused on potential de-escalation in the Middle East as traders weigh geopolitical risks against record U.S. crude exports.
Brent Crude Oil fell more than 1% on June 2 after United States President Donald Trump indicated that negotiations with Iran are continuing. The decline reversed sharp gains from the previous session despite conflicting reports regarding the status of diplomatic efforts. Investors are weighing these de-escalation signals against ongoing physical restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
### Conflicting Diplomatic Signals Brent crude fell $1.53 to $93.45 a barrel during morning trading, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate dropped $1.42 to $90.74. These moves followed a social media post from Trump suggesting a potential easing of tensions. UBS GROUP AG-REG analyst Giovanni Staunovo said the president's comments are weighing on prices even as flows through the Strait remain restricted.
