Nvidia launches RTX Spark chip for AI-powered PCs
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang introduced the RTX Spark PC chip at the Computex conference in Taipei to enable local AI agent processing on laptops and desktops. Developed with MediaTek, the new hardware aims to shift personal computing from app-centric models to private edge AI agents.
NVIDIA CORP unveiled the RTX Spark PC chip on Monday to integrate advanced AI capabilities directly into consumer laptops and desktops. The hardware, developed with MEDIATEK INC, marks a three-year collaboration with MICROSOFT CORP to transition PCs toward local AI processing. The launch targets a new $200 billion market for AI-driven hardware as Nvidia expands beyond data center dominance.
### Shifting AI from Cloud to Edge The RTX Spark chip enables AI agents to run locally on devices instead of relying on remote cloud servers. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in Taipei, Taiwan, that the technology aims to reinvent the personal computer for an era defined by private edge AI. Counterpoint Research co-founder Neil Shah said the release represents a transformative moment for the segment, comparable to the launch of the iPhone or ChatGPT.
