Novo Nordisk A/S has announced the official launch of a higher-dose version of its weight-loss medication, Wegovy, in the United States. The 7.2-milligram dose, branded as Wegovy HD, was made available on Tuesday following its approval by the FDA last month under the National Priority Review Voucher program. This release marks a significant increase from the previous maximum authorized dosage of 2.4 mg for the injectable treatment.
The company confirmed that Wegovy HD is accessible through retail pharmacies, NovoCare Pharmacy, and selected telehealth platforms. For adults paying without insurance, the monthly cost is approximately $399. Patients with commercial insurance coverage may be eligible for a savings program that brings the price down to $25 per month.
