NC Minimum Wage Set to Stay at 7.25

While over 15 states prepare to raise minimum wage rates at the start of 2027, North Carolina continues to stay at the federal minimum of 7.25 dollars per hour. Lawmakers have advanced no new wage legislation since 2005.

Sixteen states will raise their minimum wage floors by January 1, 2027, leaving United States federal baselines unchanged at $7.25 per hour. Twenty states, including North Carolina, continue to tether their wage floors to the stagnant federal standard. The persistent gap highlights growing disparities in worker compensation across different state jurisdictions.
