Nevada Approves Robotaxis for Tesla Waymo and Uber
Nevada regulators have unanimously approved thousands of robotaxis for Tesla, Waymo, and Uber in Clark County. Tesla leads with approval for up to 5,000 vehicles while Waymo and Uber can operate 1,000 each under new safety rules.
Nevada regulators approved robotaxi applications from TESLA INC, ALPHABET INC-CL A's Waymo, and UBER TECHNOLOGIES INC subsidiary Aviari to deploy up to 7,000 vehicles in Clark County. The unanimous vote on Thursday afternoon marks a major commercial scaling milestone for autonomous passenger transport. The initial permits allow thousands of autonomous vehicles to operate across designated areas, including Las Vegas routes.
The Nevada Transportation Authority capped initial deployment numbers based on operating capacity. Tesla secured approval for up to 5,000 vehicles during the first 12 months, while Waymo and Aviari received caps of 1,000 vehicles each.
