Malaysia will set new import rules for overseas electric vehicles on July 1. These include a 200,000 ringgit minimum value and lower motor power thresholds.

Malaysia will impose a 200,000 ringgit ($50,684) minimum value on imported electric vehicles starting July 1. The regulation follows the end of a four-year full import and excise duty exemption granted through December 2025. The minimum motor power threshold will be lowered to 180 kW from 200 kW.
