Italy Treasury reappoints Del Fante as Poste Italiane CEO
Italy's Treasury proposed the reappointment of Matteo Del Fante as CEO of Poste Italiane for a fourth term. Chair Silvia Maria Rovere will also remain in her role.
The Italian Treasury has formally proposed the reappointment of Matteo Del Fante to lead POSTE ITALIANE SPA for a fourth consecutive term. Del Fante, a former JPMorgan banker who took the helm in 2017, received the government's backing on Thursday to continue managing the financial and logistics conglomerate. The Treasury also confirmed that Chair Silvia Maria Rovere will remain in her role for an additional three years. These leadership decisions come as the state-controlled group, a vital component of the economy in Italy, pursues an ambitious expansion strategy. The group recently launched a bid to take the former telephone monopoly TELECOM ITALIA SPA private, a move designed to create a national digital champion and consolidate state influence over critical household and corporate data. The Italian state maintains a heavy presence in the company's capital structure. The Treasury currently holds a 29.3% stake, while the state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) owns another 35% shareholding. As one of the largest employers in the country, the conglomerate provides a diverse array of services, including logistics, financial products, payments, broadband, and insurance. The decision to retain the current leadership suggests a commitment to the group's ongoing transformation into a diversified digital and financial services provider.
