Indonesia Arrests Former Official Over Free Meals Graft
Indonesian authorities arrested Dadan Hindayana and two other former officials following a raid on the National Nutrition Agency. The suspects face charges related to procurement markups and the selection of unqualified foundations for the 15 billion dollar flagship food initiative.
Indonesia authorities arrested the recently dismissed head of the National Nutrition Agency and two former officials on Wednesday over alleged corruption in a $15B free meals program. The arrests followed a late evening raid on the National Nutrition Agency offices just hours after President Prabowo Subianto removed the National Nutrition Agency chief from his post. The scandal threatens the credibility of a flagship policy designed to feed 83 million people across the archipelago.
