Indonesia to Implement B50 Biodiesel Program This Year
President Prabowo Subianto confirmed Indonesia will launch its B50 biodiesel blend this year. The move aims to boost energy security amid supply disruptions.
Indonesia is set to move forward with its ambitious B50 biodiesel program this year, according to a statement made by President Prabowo Subianto during an official visit to Japan. The Southeast Asian nation intends to significantly expand its use of palm oil-based fuels to bolster energy independence and reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports.
Speaking at a business forum in Tokyo before a meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the president detailed the shift toward higher biofuel concentrations. The B50 mandate will require diesel fuel to contain a 50% blend of palm oil-based biodiesel, representing an increase from the current 40% requirement.
