Indonesia identified eight blocks with rare earth potential across the country. It will launch two research projects to develop local processing technology.

Indonesia IDID announced on Feb. 9, 2026, that it has identified the eight identified mining blocks with large potential for rare earth elements. This initiative includes the launch of two research projects in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, which are dedicated to developing rare earth processing technology. The government has confirmed that the eight identified mining blocks will be mined by Perminas (new state-owned miner), a newly established state-owned mining entity.
