Indonesia has finalized a comprehensive plan to restructure the debt associated with the country's high-speed railway project, according to a senior official. Dony Oskaria, the chief operating officer of the sovereign fund Danantara Indonesia, confirmed the completion of the strategy on Tuesday.
Indonesia has completed a plan to restructure the debt of the country's high speed train company.
The $7.3 billion rail link, which represents a significant infrastructure collaboration with China, began construction in 2016 and officially commenced operations in 2023. The project is a key component of regional connectivity efforts and has faced various financial adjustments since its inception.

While the restructuring plan is now complete, it remains unclear whether the Chinese government or the involved financial institutions have formally agreed to the new terms. The Indonesian government had previously indicated that it would enter formal negotiations with China regarding the project's financial obligations.
