Indian shares rally on RBI rate pause and Iran ceasefire
Indian shares rose over 3% today after the RBI held rates at 5.25%. Markets were further buoyed as a two-week Iran ceasefire pushed crude oil prices down to $95.
Indian equity markets maintained strong gains on Wednesday as geopolitical tensions eased and the domestic central bank kept interest rates steady. The positive momentum followed an announcement from the United States regarding a temporary ceasefire with Iran agreed upon by President Donald Trump, which led to a significant retreat in global energy prices.
The KOTAK NIFTY 50 climbed 3.45% to reach 23,928.80, while the DSP BSE SENSEX ETF-ETF INR surged 3.71% to 77,387.66 by mid-morning. This rally reflects broader optimism across Asian markets, which rose an average of 4.8% during the session.
