India remained a net importer of finished steel during the first half of the fiscal year as imports rose 23.8% to 4.14 million metric tons. The surge outpaced exports, which totaled 3.55 million tons over the same period. The trade imbalance highlights intensifying supply pressures on domestic producers as foreign metal flows accelerate.
