India Fiscal Deficit Hits 26.8 Percent
India reported its fiscal deficit reached 4.55 trillion rupees during the April to July period. This accounts for 26.8 percent of the full year target ending in March 2027. Net tax receipts and capital expenditure both increased compared to the previous year.

India recorded a fiscal deficit of 4.55 trillion rupees ($47.81 billion) for the April-July period, hitting 26.8% of its full-year target. The shortfall narrowed slightly compared with the 4.7 trillion rupees recorded during the same four months last year. The central government aims to cap the fiscal deficit at 4.3% of GDP, or 16.96 trillion rupees, for the financial year ending March 31.
