The International Monetary Fund has demanded specific amendments to the draft financial gap rescue law of Lebanon
LB, particularly regarding the hierarchy of claims. This legal framework determines how financial losses from the crisis that began in 2019 will be allocated among the state treasury, the central bank, commercial banks, and individual depositors. Clearer provisions on these claims are now a critical prerequisite for Lebanonto access essential international funding and restart its collapsed banking system.
