The framework follows a deal where FAW acquires a stake through TOYOTA MOTOR CORP operations in China's consolidating market. The partnership aims to cut overcapacity and boost supply-chain resilience across state-owned automakers.
Under the strategic framework signed on Tuesday morning, the two state-owned automakers will pursue joint technology development and resource sharing. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers stated that cross-regional integration faces hurdles like capacity quota transfers and lengthy approvals.
