General Motors reported a first quarter core profit of 4.3 billion dollars today. The automaker raised its annual outlook following strong North American margins.
GENERAL MOTORS CO reported a 22% increase in first-quarter core profit to $4.3 billion, beating LSEG analyst estimates of $2.62 per share. The automaker raised its 2026 profit outlook by $500 million to a range of $13.5 billion to $15.5 billion. Resilient North American margins and a $500 million tariff refund are offsetting a $1.1 billion charge from slowing electric vehicle production.
GM earned $3.70 per share, surpassing the $2.62 expected by LSEG data providers. Net income fell 6% to $2.6 billion after GM paid $1.1 billion to settle supplier claims related to reduced EV output. Revenue dipped less than 1% to $43.6 billion.
