Stocks Rise on Reports of Potential Iran De-escalation
Markets rose Tuesday on reports that the U.S. may end its Iran campaign. Investors await euro zone inflation data as oil prices track record monthly gains.
Global markets observed a modest recovery on Tuesday as investors reacted to reports of potential de-escalation in the Middle East. Equity futures in the United States rose nearly 1% during the Asian session, while European markets saw the EUROSTOXX 50 futures climb 0.8%, reversing earlier losses. This bounce provides some respite after a difficult month where stocks, bonds, and precious metals all faced significant downward pressure.
The shift in sentiment followed reports that the U.S. administration might be prepared to conclude military actions against Iran, even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely inaccessible. While the situation regarding the critical waterway remains fluid, ship-tracking data indicated that two vessels from China successfully transited the area on Monday, marking a rare instance of movement since the conflict began in late February.
