Global equity markets rebounded on Monday, snapping a three-day losing streak as energy prices retreated from recent highs. Despite the relief in crude markets, the geopolitical landscape remains volatile following military actions by Israel against targets in Iran, alongside drone strikes that impacted infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.
United States President Donald Trump has called for international cooperation to maintain passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated a temporary tolerance for vessels from India and China traversing the region for now. Consequently, Brent Crude Oil fell 2.5% to $100.56 per barrel, while U.S. crude dropped 5.19% to $93.60.
