Ghana Mineworkers Demand Frozen Savings
Ghanaian mineworkers petitioned the central bank to release over 34 million dollars in savings frozen during financial sector reforms. The union warned of renewed industrial action if authorities fail to address the trapped funds.

Mineworkers in Ghana petitioned the central bank Thursday afternoon to demand the release of over $34.5M in savings frozen since a financial sector clean-up. The funds include provident funds and severance packages affecting more than 19,000 workers. The action revives a long-running dispute over regulatory reforms that began in August 2017.
