German police probe substation attack
German police are investigating a suspected attack at a Brandenburg power substation after an unexploded device damaged transmission lines. The grid operator confirmed a brief power cut, though supplies remained stable.
Germany police are investigating a suspected sabotage attempt at a high-voltage substation in Brandenburg that caused a brief power cut on Tuesday morning. The incident at the Turnow-Preilack node damaged power lines using an unexploded incendiary device. Grid operator 50Hertz restored all transmission lines over the course of the day following the attack.
The event occurs as Germany investigates separate hybrid threats, including an alleged drone incident involving Ukraine cargo operations last month. State officials have flagged an increasing frequency of security breaches targeting critical national infrastructure.
