German development finance institution DEG has committed 25 million dollars to the Vivriti India Retail Assets Fund. This marks its first Indian debt fund investment.

The German DEDEdevelopment finance institution DEG, which is a member of the KfW Group, has approved and committed a 25 million dollar capital injection into the Vivriti India Retail Assets Fund. This transaction represents the first time that DEG has ever invested in an Indian ININdebt fund. The commitment brings the total corpus of the fund to approximately 190 million dollars as it continues to work toward a final target of 250 million dollars.
Based in GIFT City, the Vivriti India Retail Assets Fund is the first asset-backed securitisation fund established in the special economic zone. Asset-backed securitisation is a financial process where pools of loans are bundled together and sold to investors as bonds that provide periodic income and return principal at maturity. This specific vehicle is designed to support lending to micro and small enterprises as well as women entrepreneurs across India.
