European Union foreign ministers rejected Russia's attempt to nominate a European negotiator for potential peace talks regarding Ukraine. The bloc's leadership insisted on a unified diplomatic front during an informal summit in Cyprus on May 28. The Kremlin stated on Wednesday that President Vladimir Putin was open to negotiations with Europe, but EU officials made clear that Moscow will not dictate the terms or participants of any discussions.
