Italian energy importer Edison has warned that Qatar may extend its force majeure on Natural Gas shipments beyond the middle of June. The disruption follows regional instability in the Middle East, including recent attacks by Iran that have constrained export capacity.
In response to the shortfall, Edison CEO Nicola Monti confirmed that the company has turned to the United States to fill the gap. The utility has purchased seven cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) after 10 shipments were cancelled by QatarEnergy between April and mid-June.
