Congo Republic to buy back over 354 million dollars of 2032 notes
The Republic of Congo confirmed today it will buy back 354.3 million dollars in notes due in 2032. This move follows a tender offer launched last week.
The Republic of Congo
CG announced today, February 17, 2026, a tender offer to buy back approximately $354.3 million in principal amount of its 9.875% amortising notes due 2032. The government is offering a purchase price of $947.50 per $1,000 of principal, resulting in an aggregate tender consideration of $346.0 million. This sovereign debt operation, which was officially disclosed at 4:45 PM UTC, represents a significant liability-management action for the nation.
This transaction is expected to change the total outstanding amount of the 9.875% amortising notes due 2032. According to the announcement details released through the London Stock Exchange, the tender offer is tied to the country's stated intention to issue a new series of dollar-denominated notes (intended issuance). By repurchasing a portion of the existing debt, the Republic of Congo is taking steps to manage its sovereign bond issue in coordination with its future financing plans.
