Codelco expects El Teniente copper output to remain low for five years

Production at the world's largest copper miner will face a five-year slump following a fatal accident. The mine targets 301,000 tons for the current year.

Codelco (SY:CODELCO) announced on February 10, 2026, that production at the El Teniente mine (SY:EL_TENIENTE_MINE) will remain depressed for approximately the next five years. This revised outlook extends the previously estimated three-year impact window following a fatal collapse at the site last year. The company, which is the world’s largest copper miner, expects to produce about 301,000 metric tons of copper from the facility this year.
