Brazils annual inflation slowed more than expected in mid-August as consumer prices posted their first monthly decline in a year. The IPCA-15 index rose 4.24% in the twelve months through mid-August, down from 4.52% previously.

Annual inflation in Brazil slowed to 4.24% through mid-August as consumer prices posted their first monthly decline in a year, sliding 0.40%. The reading came in below economists' median forecast of 4.34% and marked the first negative monthly print since August 2025. The deceleration reinforces growing expectations that price pressures are cooling across Latin America's largest economy.
