Greg Abel Leads First Berkshire Meeting as CEO
Greg Abel earned praise for his operational knowledge during his first annual meeting as CEO. Attendance declined as shareholders noted a shift in the event tone.
Greg Abel led BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC-CL A's first annual meeting as CEO, drawing 12,000 attendees to the 18,000-seat Omaha arena. It marks the first gathering in the United States since Greg Abel succeeded Warren Buffett as chief executive officer in January. Investors are now assessing if Abel's operational expertise can sustain the conglomerate's unique shareholder culture.
Abel presided over the meeting while the 95-year-old Buffett watched and spoke briefly from the audience. Crowds were thinner than in previous years, with approximately 33% of the arena seats remaining empty during the opening.
