Applied Digital Quarterly Loss Widens Despite Revenue Beat
Applied Digital reported a wider quarterly loss of 36 cents per share due to rising costs. Revenue beat estimates on AI demand while shares fell 3% today.
APPLIED DIGITAL CORP reported a widening net loss for its third quarter as rising operational costs and a significant one-time impairment charge offset a substantial revenue beat. Despite the bottom-line pressure, the company saw strong demand for its data center services, driven by the ongoing artificial intelligence boom. Shares of the company declined 3% in extended trading following the announcement, though the stock has maintained a 13% gain year-to-date.
The quarterly results included a $59.7 million impairment charge linked to the cloud services division. Although the company had previously classified this segment as held for sale, it now plans to merge the business with EKSO BIONICS HOLDINGS INC to create a new corporate entity. Operating costs for the quarter surged to $212.3 million, nearly triple the previous year's figure, as the company accelerated its build-out of high-performance data centers.
