Apple cuts China App Store fees after regulatory pressure
Apple will cut China App Store fees from 30% to 25% starting Sunday. The move follows regulatory pressure and will save developers billions of yuan annually.
Apple Inc. announced on Thursday that it will reduce the commission fees it collects from its App Store in mainland China, marking a significant victory for local developers. The decision follows sustained pressure from regulators in the United States tech giant's second-largest global market. Starting this Sunday, commission rates for in-app purchases and paid transactions will be lowered from 30% to 25%. Additionally, developers participating in small business and mini-app partner programs will see their fees reduced from 15% to 12%. Mini-apps are lightweight applications that run within larger platforms, such as those operated by TENCENT HOLDINGS LTD through its WeChat ecosystem.
