American Airlines to Double India Tech Hub Staff

AMERICAN AIRLINES GROUP INC will double its headcount at its India technology hub to 800 employees by early 2025. The expansion follows a similar move by Southwest Airlines CO to grow its Hyderabad workforce to 1,000. This scaling reflects a broader shift as global firms move core engineering and R&D functions to Indian capability centers to manage rising costs.
### Aviation Giants Scale Hyderabad Operations American Airlines established its Hyderabad hub prior to May 2023 and currently employs 400 staff focused on software engineering, AI, and cybersecurity. People familiar with the matter said the airline plans to reach the 800-employee mark by early 2025. The airline told Reuters it intends to continue hiring to support its global technology network alongside teams in the United States.
