Sony to end physical PlayStation game discs by 2028

Sony will transition to digital-only distribution for new PlayStation titles starting in January 2028 as online sales dominate the market. The company also announced the phased closure of legacy PlayStation 3 and Vita stores by July 2027 due to outdated security systems.
