World Liberty Financial Proposes Four-Year Token Lockup
The Trump-backed crypto project proposed a four-year lockup for early investors. This measure would prevent full token trading until after the president's term.
World Liberty Financial, the digital asset venture co-founded by Donald Trump and his sons, has unveiled a new governance proposal that would prevent early investors from fully cashing out until well after the next presidential term. According to a statement released on the project's governance forum in the United States, the proposal seeks to implement a two-year lock on token trading for early participants, followed by an additional two-year vesting period.
If approved by a vote scheduled for next week, the measure would mean that holders of 17 billion tokens will be unable to trade their full positions until 2030. This timeline extends beyond the scheduled conclusion of the next presidential administration in 2029.
