Voltas Quarterly Profit Halves on Higher Input Costs
Voltas reported a 52 percent drop in quarterly profit to 1.16 billion rupees as high input costs and currency volatility squeezed margins. Revenue rose to 48.88 billion rupees despite supply chain disruptions and elevated logistics expenses.
VOLTAS LTD reported a 52% drop in fourth-quarter net profit to 1.16 billion rupees ($12.1 million) on May 14. The result fell from 2.41 billion rupees a year earlier despite a slight increase in operating revenue. Margin compression from rising input costs and currency volatility outweighed growing demand for cooling products in India.
### Margin Pressure Offsets Revenue Growth Revenue from operations reached 48.88 billion rupees during the January–March quarter, up from 47.67 billion rupees in the prior year. Voltas attributed the growth to its unitary cooling products segment, where it expanded distribution and focused on premium room air conditioners.
