Automakers Adopt Chinese EV Tactics
Volkswagen and Stellantis are leveraging strategies from Chinese electric vehicle makers to boost competitiveness in Europe. Stellantis is deepening partnerships like Leapmotor to accelerate development, while Volkswagen relies on its own resources.
VOLKSWAGEN AG and STELLANTIS NV showcased expanding EV strategies at the Paris auto show on Monday, embracing manufacturing partnerships with China to bridge technology gaps. Both automakers are racing to defend market share as Chinese competitors accelerate their footprint across France and neighboring European economies. The shift underscores a broader adaptation among legacy European manufacturers facing intensifying domestic and foreign rivalry.
Stellantis is leveraging joint ventures with ZHEJIANG LEAPMOTOR TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. and DONGFENG ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. to study engineering efficiencies and accelerate vehicle development cycles.
