Verdi Calls Strikes in German Private Banks
German union Verdi has called warning strikes across the private banking sector to increase pressure in ongoing wage negotiations. The union is seeking a six percent pay rise ahead of talks scheduled for November.
Germany's Verdi labour union called for warning strikes across the private banking sector on Friday morning, demanding a 6% pay increase. The nationwide walkouts aim to increase pressure on employers ahead of wage negotiations scheduled for November 2.
The union is pressing for a 12-month deal to secure a fairer share of earnings for financial workers. Verdi chief negotiator Jan Duscheck said that those who contribute to the banking industry's success every day are rightly expecting their fair share.
