United States Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is requesting $10 billion from Congress to fund the next phase of a comprehensive modernization effort for the nation’s aging air traffic control system. This request follows a previous $12.5 billion allocation aimed at replacing obsolete technology and addressing staffing shortages in control towers. Duffy told Reuters that much of the proposed spending is dedicated to developing advanced software to enhance airspace management efficiency.
"The real magic truly is the software to manage the airspace."
