The United States lifted sanctions on Theint Win Htet, the daughter of a Myanmar businessman, following her legal challenge in federal court.
The decision arrived after the administration opened diplomatic channels with the military-installed government in Myanmar, reversing prior isolation policies. The 2021 coup triggered a civil war that has resulted in an estimated 100,000 deaths and displaced 3.5 million people.
