US import prices hold steady year on year in December
US import prices remained unchanged year on year in December while rising 0.1 percent monthly. Data collection resumed following recent government shutdowns.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today that U.S. import prices were unchanged on a year-on-year basis in December. In the United States
US, these prices rose 0.1% month-on-month, providing the freshest available movement in import prices.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics did not publish monthly changes for October and November because last year’s federal government (43-day shutdown) prevented the collection of October survey data. This interruption produced a compressed release schedule that limited the completeness and detail of the official BLS import price release.
