The United States dollar advanced on Friday as investors reacted to stronger-than-anticipated producer price data and mounting geopolitical friction involving Iran. The Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand rose 0.5% in January, exceeding the 0.3% increase predicted by economists. This data followed a downwardly revised 0.4% gain in December, highlighting persistent inflationary pressures within the American economy.
"Theres a real deep unease in markets about inflation and growth so far in 2026," said Adam Button, chief currency analyst at investingLive.
