Ukraine summons Israeli envoy over stolen grain claims
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha summoned the Israeli ambassador on Monday following reports of grain shipments from occupied territories. Israel maintains that no evidence of theft has been provided.
The diplomatic relationship between Ukraine and Israel has come under significant strain following allegations regarding the transport of agricultural goods from territories occupied by Russia. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on Monday that the Israeli ambassador has been summoned to the foreign ministry in Kyiv to address what Ukraine describes as a failure to prevent the entry of stolen grain shipments.
The dispute centers on the vessel Panormitis, which is reportedly carrying grain from occupied Ukrainian regions and is currently awaiting permission to berth in Haifa. Local reports suggest that four similar shipments have already been unloaded in Israel earlier this year. While no specific shipping line has been officially sanctioned, the logistics of such maritime trade often involve major regional players like ZIM INTEGRATED SHIPPING SERV.
