Ukraine accelerated development of cheap interceptor missiles and automated guidance systems during the late summer to counter a sixfold surge in jet-powered attack drones launched by Russia. The technological shift comes as winter approaches with severe shortages of Western air-defence systems. Moscow deployed roughly 2,850 jet drones in August alone, up from about 450 in June, according to military data.
