The National Wealth Fund is providing 25 million pounds to Bristol-based engineering firm Rowden to expand manufacturing and create 100 new jobs. This marks the fund's first investment into the defence and national security industries since its 2024 launch.
The United Kingdom National Wealth Fund invested £25 million ($34 million) in defense engineering firm Rowden. It marks the fund's first allocation to the defense and national security sectors since its 2024 inception. The move broadens the fund's mandate beyond its primary focus on net-zero transition projects.
The National Wealth Fund provided the capital to help Rowden open two new manufacturing sites and create 100 jobs over the next 12 months. Rowden develops sensing and information systems designed for low-connectivity environments, serving clients including the Ministry of Defence and emergency services.
