UK housing market shows signs of recovery as buyer interest rises

The UK housing market downturn eased in January as buyer enquiries hit a six-month high. Analysts link this recovery to reduced national economic uncertainty.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) announced in its January survey that the downturn in the housing market across the United Kingdom GBGB has begun to ease. The data, released on February 12, 2026, shows the house price balance rose to -10% from a revised -13% in December, while new buyer enquiries improved to -15% from -21% in the prior month.
