UK economy grows 0.2 percent in three months to January
British GDP grew 0.2 percent in the three months to January, missing the 0.3 percent forecast. Output stagnated in January as the recovery lost momentum.
The economy of the United Kingdom grew by 0.2% during the three-month period ending in January, falling short of market expectations. Data published on Friday revealed that the gross domestic product expansion for the November-to-January window was below the 0.3% growth predicted by economists in a Reuters poll. In January alone, the economy showed no growth, according to the Office for National Statistics. This stagnation was a disappointment compared to the 0.2% increase that analysts had anticipated for the month. The latest figures indicate a loss of momentum in the British economic recovery at the start of the year.
