Uganda central bank sells FX to defend shilling
Ugandas central bank has intervened in the foreign exchange market by selling foreign currency after a recent emergency interest rate hike failed to stop the shillings ongoing decline against the dollar.

Uganda's central bank stepped into foreign exchange markets on Thursday morning to sell an undisclosed amount of foreign currency. The intervention follows a failed attempt to support the local currency against the United States dollar through an emergency rate hike.
