Trump order eases firing of 8000 senior federal employees
President Trump signed an order stripping job protections from 8,000 senior federal workers. The move aims to ensure staff follow administration policy goals.
United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to strip job protections from 8,000 senior federal employees earning up to $200,000. The move targets a specific group of policy-influencing workers, a figure well below the previously estimated ceiling of 50,000 employees. This directive aims to ensure career staff execute the administration's policy priorities by allowing agencies to remove personnel who oppose lawful orders.
### Overhauling the Federal Workforce The new directive allows agencies to fire policy-influencing employees at will if they interfere with lawful orders. Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor stated the administration requires staff willing to execute its specific agenda. The move follows Trump’s long-standing claim that career bureaucrats hampered his first-term goals.
